  The IRADS
(Ice Rink Automated Deck System)

The IRADS is intended for large arenas which are often required to lay down flooring (deck) on top of existing ice in order to quickly convert from one event (e.g. a hockey game) to another (e.g. a basketball game).

How many men does it require to put down a deck on the ice and how long does it take?
Most often it takes a crew of eight or so men more than four hours to make the full cycle conversion (i.e. ice to floor, then floor to ice). An entire event could be staged in the busy arena if this conversion time were reduced. Also, depending on labor rates and number, conversions can be relatively costly.

What is the condition of the ice after removal of the deck?
Upon removal of the deck, the ice needs tremendous preparation before it can be used. This preparation can be costly because of labor, ice resurfacer fuel, and lack of ice availability for additional rentals.

Where is the deck when the ice is being used?
Storage space is needed for the deck. Often, the deck takes up operationally valuable storage space.

IRUM Ice's second product is its automated deck system, the IRADS, for use in multi-use arena facilities. Although still in development, the IRADS will operate on the same concept as the IRUM (patent pending). The difference between the IRADS and the IRUM is that, with the IRADS, the insulated panels will act as a floor or sub-floor rather than solely for insulation purposes.

The IRADS will use a deck that has insulation properties as well as dry deck properties including moisture resistance.

IRUM Ice intends to focus its marketing of the IRADS on large arenas wanting to quickly convert from ice activities (hockey games and figure skating events) to floor activities (basketball, circus, concerts, and conventions etc.).
