The IRUM starts saving from the time it gets deployed.
The IRUM consists of an arrangement (modules) of rigid insulated panels
that are suspended from the ice rink ceiling. When in the retracted or
stored position, the panels form rows of folded multiple panels suspended
well above the ice. These rows (or modules) are inconspicuous and are
custom designed not to interfere with lighting, speaker systems, fire
sprinklers etc. The fink facility needs no extra storage space for the
IRUM.
Simple Two-Minute Operation
At the simple push of a button, the IRUM insulated panels
descend accordion style in less than two minutes, to rest on the ice surface.
The insulated panels consist of extruded polystyrene, a PVC hinge and
strapping system, and a fire retardant covering. The covering and strapping
system prohibit the polystyrene from becoming embedded in the ice even
after hours of resting on the ice. IRUM Ice designed the hinge and strapping
system using PVC in order to minimize any heat conduction to the ice.
Custom Designed and Installed
Each IRUM is custom designed for use in your facility.
IRUM Ice designs the IRUM to work for you. The number of IRUM insulated
panels, rows, and hoists is solely dependent on the architectural design
of your facility. Since no facilities are alike, then it is necessary
to custom design the IRUM. Once a facility owner desires to own an IRUM,
then IRUM Ice will work with the owners and operators to custom design:
the control panel functions, the IRUM colors, and the possible coordination
with existing rink systems (e.g. automated scheduler).
Low Maintenance and Durable Product
The IRUM needs only an annual maintenance and check up
of operations. The IRUM drum hoist is designed to run on a standard single-phase
115 volt 60 Hz AC power source. The IRUM drum hoist has a dual braking
system, consisting of a speed-controlled friction brake and a worm/worm
gear combination.
The insulation used in the IRUM panels has a compressive strength of 25
psi. Each panel has a fire-retardant 4-mil plastic sheathing protecting
the IRUM insulation. The IRUM panels are connected together to form an
IRUM module, using a rugged PVC hinge and strapping system.
Strong (1/8-inch wire rope suspends the IRUM modules from the IRUM hoists,
conveniently attached to your facility's ceiling. Finally, durable stretch
cord ensures the IRUM modules deploy properly. The IRUM is light in weight
and it adds less than 6 ounces of load per square foot to your rink's
ceiling structure.
Advertising Medium
If you need advertising space, the IRUM panels offer an
excellent vantagepoint for advertising in their stored position. The folded
IRUM panels form an IRUM module. In the stored position, the module is
about four feet in height (depending on your ice rink configuration) and
spans the width of your rink. Here is a great place to sell advertising
space for your rink sponsors or just for your own purposes.
